About me
Genia Peer, BSc
midwife
My name is Genia Peer. I was born in 1990 and raised in Vienna.
I completed my midwifery degree at the University of Applied Sciences FH Joanneum in Graz, graduating successfully in 2012.
After graduation, I worked as a staff midwife in the delivery ward at Klinik Landstraße from 2012 to 2015. While still working at the hospital, I began offering home-based midwifery care independently in 2014.
From 2015 to 2017, I worked at the private hospital Goldenes Kreuz, where I gained valuable experience in both the delivery ward and postpartum care. I then joined the Semmelweis Women's Clinic, working from 2017 to 2019 in the prenatal unit and delivery ward.
In 2019, I took the step into full self-employment and began working as a private-practice midwife, attending births at St. Josef Hospital. During this time, I also offered prenatal and postnatal care.
In 2023, I had the joy of becoming a mother myself to a wonderful daughter. This personal experience allowed me to see pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period from a completely new perspective, deepening my understanding and empathy for this transformative time in life.
Since October 2024, I have been working as a health insurance midwife in Vienna, primarily supporting families in districts 16, 17, 18, and 19.
As a midwife covered by public health insurance, I support families on their journey into a new phase of life.
It is especially important to me to work in an evidence-based manner and to engage in continuous professional development in order to stay up to date with the latest scientific research.
In my work, I place great value on meeting families exactly where they are—empathetically and without judgment. My goal is to empower parents and help them begin family life feeling confident and relaxed.
I offer prenatal care, mother-child passport consultations, and postnatal care—both after outpatient discharge and following inpatient births—as services covered by public health insurance, meaning there are no additional costs for families.
